Dataspace import options

When you import data into a new Elasticsearch index, the following options are available:

  • Private entity table: Select this option to keep the data and the structure of the entity table visible only within the current dataspace.

  • Shared entity table (Admin only)

    • Private data: Select this option to keep the data is visible only in the current dataspace, but to allow the structure of the entity table to be shared across dataspaces.

    • Shared data: Select this option to allow the data and the structure of the entity table to be shared across dataspaces. Users can create and edit data and revisions can be tracked. For more information, see Setting up record editing.

  • A standard Elasticsearch index (Admin only): Select this option to allow data to be accessed regardless of the dataspace. To restrict access, you can apply Elasticsearch access control rules.

Because Elasticsearch has a limit on the number of indices, it is recommended that a system administrator creates a number of shared entity tables that contain the entities of interest to the organization. The entity tables can then be shared across dataspaces.
